Do you long for a lush, tropical getaway here in the Sacramento Valley?

We’ve got several plants that fit the bill for a tropical oasis in your yard so you can have the tropical style in Sacramento. We just need to be creative about where to plant them.

The challenge that most tropical plants face in Sacramento is frost, therefore, they generally can’t handle cold winters. Work around this by planting frost-sensitive plants* on your patio or porch, where you can appreciate their beauty in the summer and easily provide protection from frost in the winter months.

The outer-reaches of your landscape can be filled with plants that have a beautiful island feel, but hold up well in cold weather.  And, there are an abundance of tropical-looking plants which will thrive in our Mediterranean climate.**
